ABOUT SPINS-UK
This inaugural meeting of the SPINS-UK (Science Possibilities Investigating Neutron Stars in the UK) consortium will bring together neutron-star and related gravitational-wave scientists from all over the UK. It will be hosted by the University of East Anglia in Norwich, from 16-18 April, 2018. The venue, OPEN Norwich, is a historic building located in the centre of Norwich.
If you have not already done so, please register here to confirm your attendance by clicking on the registration tab. The deadline for registering will be 15 March, so that we can finalise arrangements for catering and other needs. Once registered, you will be sent a confirmation email at the address you provide, which will also contain details about submitting your title and abstract, if you have indicated that you wish to present at the meeting.
In addition, the last day of the meeting (Wednesday, 18 April) will overlap with the first day of the meeting of the European Pulsar Timing Array collaboration — whose aim is to detect nanohertz-frequency gravitational waves with precision pulsar timing — and we intend to take advantage of this opportunity by scheduling talks during that day which have particular relevance to both meetings. We will also mark the occasion with an exciting evening public lecture at UEA, to be given by Professor Ben Stappers of the University of Manchester, to be followed by a joint reception.
Full details will be posted on this meeting website as they become available. We are still calculating a possible registration fee. We will update registered participants as soon as this is done, but if there will be a registration fee, it will be relatively low, thanks to funding from a variety of sources, including the Royal Astronomical Society, and PHAROS.
The organisers are committed to making this meeting productive and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, nationality or religion. We will not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Please read the code of conduct here.
